Six regional artists make their mark at TCC’s Visual Arts Center

The exhibition “Making Their Mark: Classical & Contemporary Drawings” will open at Tidewater Community College’s Visual Arts Center (VAC) from July 11 – September 7, 2015.

The opening reception will be July 10 at 7 p.m. Artist Anne Iott, the founding director of the VAC, will give an informal gallery talk preceding the event at 6:30 p.m.

Events are free and open to the public. The exhibition continues until Sept. 7.

“Making Their Mark” includes works by six regional artists who have mastered a full range of drawing materials, styles, and techniques. Barbara Hennig-Loomis of Chesapeake; Linda Carey, Brian Kreydatus, Elizabeth Mead, and Nicole M. Santiago, all from Williamsburg; and Robert Sites of Norfolk provide a full spectrum of drawing examples from portraits to landscapes. Ranging in size from small-scale to large, works include pastel, ink, charcoal, silverpoint, graphite, conté, and mixed media. The collection features drawings that are witty and exciting as well as graceful and contemplative.

Hennig-Loomis teaches at TCC and Sites at Norfolk State University. Carey, Kreydatus, Mead and Santiago teach at the College of William & Mary.
