TCC Theatre presents Jeffrey Hatcher’s “The Government Inspector”
Tidewater Community College Theatre presents Jeffrey Hatcher’s “The Government Inspector” in the Black Box Theatre from March 31-April 8.
The production features 24 student and community actors with some also serving as stage crew.
The adaptation of Nikolai Gogol’s classic comedy features locals in a small town learning that an undercover government inspector is paying a surprise visit. An unfortunate case of mistaken identity sends the village spiraling into a world of panic and greed.
Nearly 20 quirky characters include a foppish braggart and his servant; the corrupt mayor, his wife and daughter; the maid; and the mayor’s incompetent cabinet.
The theater is in the Academic Building on TCC’s Chesapeake Campus, 1428 Cedar Road.
Performance dates are March 31, April 1, 7 and 8 at 7:30 p.m. A 2 p.m. matinee will be held on April 2.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Payment is by cash or checks at the door. The box office opens 45 minutes prior to show time.
Tickets can also be purchased with a credit card at the Chesapeake Campus Business Office in the Pass Building during normal business hours.
