TCC, Republic Parking System partner to offer business apprenticeship
Apprentices receive 288 hours of academic instruction at TCC while working toward an Associate of Science in Business Administration.
In addition, apprentices will receive at least 4,000 hours of on-the-job training at Republic Parking System in Virginia Beach. The position requires apprentices to effectively manage day-to-day operations with a high degree of professionalism.
“We look forward to working with our newest registered apprenticeship partner, Republic Parking,” said Todd Estes, director of TCC’s Apprenticeship Institute. “Their newly registered program offers qualified candidates an opportunity to begin a career in a unique field with significant growth opportunity.
“Furthermore, this apprenticeship adds to an expanding array of programs in career fields not traditionally using registered apprenticeship to develop their workforce.”
Republic Parking System, a nationwide company headquartered in Chattanooga, Tenn., is the contracted service provider for the City of Virginia Beach. The two-year apprenticeship is approved by the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry.
“We are excited to work with TCC and the Department of Labor to develop a program that will produce the parking professionals of the future,” said Chris Polk, general manager at Republic Parking System. “This apprenticeship program will help lead individuals down an exciting career path either here in Hampton Roads or throughout the country.”
