From TCC to East Tennessee State
Because no college or university in Virginia offers a bachelor’s program in mapping and surveying, Virginia-domiciled transfer students will pay in-state tuition at East Tennessee State.
“This new agreement is a great opportunity for our students to continue their education,” said Chris Cartwright, program head for Civil Engineering Technology at TCC.
Students can take many of the courses for the 68-credit Associate of Applied Science in Civil Engineering Technology on any of TCC’s four campuses.
Upper-level courses specific to the major must be completed on the Virginia Beach Campus, home to state-of-the-art labs in concrete, soils and fluids and the same equipment surveyors use on the job.
Evening classes and dynamic sessions are available. TCC’s fall semester begins Aug. 22.
Students who pursue bachelor’s degrees are qualified to sit for the Fundamentals of Surveying exam from the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying, earning them the industry credential of Land Surveyor-in-Training.
Associate degree graduates can sit for this exam only if they have six years of professional work experience. The work requirement is waived for students who graduate with bachelor’s degrees.
The transfer agreement takes effect immediately. Prospective students should contact Cartwright at 757-822-7312 or ccartwright@tcc.edu.
