TCC signs transfer agreement with University of Phoenix
University of Phoenix offers classroom instruction, both online and at more than 100 locations nationwide. Additionally, University of Phoenix has a Virginia Beach Learning Center located at 150 Central Park Ave. in Town Center.
Under the new agreement, graduates with a TCC Associate of Arts who transfer into select University of Phoenix bachelor’s degree programs will be considered as having satisfied their lower division elective and general education requirements. TCC graduates with Associate of Applied Arts, Associate of Science, or Associate of Applied Science degrees will continue to be evaluated on a program-to-program basis for transfer. The agreement excludes University of Phoenix degree programs with specialized lower division credits.
All TCC students entering into a select bachelor-level degree program at University of Phoenix will receive a 10 percent reduction in tuition. University of Phoenix also offers a free Prior Learning Assessment to new students transferring from TCC that may save them time and money by earning credits toward their degree.
“At TCC, our emphasis is on ensuring our transfer agreements further advance our students’ educational pathways,” said Daniel DeMarte, TCC’s vice president for academic affairs and chief academic officer.
“University of Phoenix works to identify the workforce needs of the community and develops specialized curriculum and career pathways that prepare students to help address local workforce skills gaps,” said Beth Sigler, University of Phoenix Richmond-Virginia Beach campus director. “The University is excited to work with Tidewater Community College to provide their students access to further their education.”
For information, students are encouraged to meet with an adviser on one of TCC’s four campuses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth and Virginia Beach.
