TCC’s Regional Automotive Center partners with the Rotary Club of Hampton Roads

Tidewater Community College’s Regional Automotive Center (RAC) is partnering with the Rotary Club of Hampton Roads to provide unique classroom instruction on ethics in the workplace and scholarships for RAC students.

“We are thrilled with this community partnership, which brings even more real-world knowledge and experience into our classrooms, especially when it comes to the area of business ethics,” said Beno Rubin, director of the RAC.

The ethics training will begin this fall and take place during Introduction to Automotive Systems for first-year students. Several Rotarians will volunteer to conduct each class using realistic workplace issues to provide a wealth of material for ethics discussions.

“The Rotary Grant allows our members to provide financial assistance and to enhance the students’ workplace training with a focus on workplace ethics based on the Rotary Four Way Test,” said Mary Greer Landon, Rotary secretary.

The Rotary 4 Way Test program incorporates four key questions:

Is it the truth?
Is it fair to all concerned?
Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

In addition, the Rotary Club donated $5,500 toward scholarships that will assist 10 RAC students in completing their education.
